Central to the Namib, the lodge provides an obvious and heaven sent home base to use whilst discovering the secrets of the oldest desert in the world. Take in the clean air, peaceful rustic atmosphere and cool weather after the heat of the desert. Discover the wetlands in the Omaruru river, the desert golf course, friendly people and long beach walks.

40km north of the town is Cape Cross where the first European set foot on the shore of Southern Africa, and home to a massive seal colony. Visit the lichen forest on Lagunen hill on your way there, and head further up the coast to the see the remains of the wreck of the Winston.

Pack a picnic lunch and head into the desert to the Spitzkoppe or the Brandberg and the Welwitchia Plains or visit the Messum Crater where volcanoes spilled lava over the desert floor 115 million years ago. Pay your respects to the 1000 year old Welwitchia or hunt for the petrified ghosts of the Ugab river.

In the south you can explore the ever changing sand dunes by quadbike, or soar high above them in a light aircraft. Take a boat ride from Walvis Bay and get to know the dolphins close up or go bird watching in the famous lagoon.
